Team Offroad, in conjunction with African Offroad Academy is presenting a 4x4 Bootcamp at Klein Tafelberg on 2/3/4 November 2012.

We are at it again. 3 days of sweat, dust and lots of fun in the Sandveld. The reason we are putting word out there is to give those who are interested and who have not yet achieved competence against the US254135, to do so in order to qualify for this event.

Read all about last year's event here: viewtopic.php?f=128&t=20367&p=257294" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

What is this all about?
The bootcamp will consist of a series of challenges and obstacles to test and train drivers the advanced techniques and skills of off-road driving. While the drivers complete their tasks they will be assessed in terms of Unit Standard 254154 - Advanced Offroad Vehicle Operator. Exact details of the challenges and tasks will be revealed at the venue and as we go along. It will also be done on a competition basis with points being awarded to get the competitive spirit going. We are planning a navigational stage, a night driving stage, some winching, road building, advanced recoveries, bush mechanics and more.

Accommodation/Catering
The group will be camping at Klein Tafelberg in their very well appointed camp site. For those who prefer to have a chalet, this can also be arranged. Catering will be provided, but teams will be expected to display their bush-cooking skills to prepare meals on a rotational basis.

Duration
The course takes place over 3 days, starting on Friday 2 Nov at 10 AM. This means that participants will have to arrive at Klein Tafelberg during the morning of 2 Nov to set up camp and settle in. We will carry on until Sunday afternoon when participants will be handed some practical assignments to complete at home and hand in for final assessment.

Costs
We are still in the planning phase, and the will be communicated once finalised. Bootcamp 2011 was R3500 per person, but unfortunately inflation can not be ignored and will probably have an influence on our costings. We will keep it as low as possible though.

Prerequisites
Participants must be TETA accredited drivers in terms of US 254135 - Offroad Vehicle Operators.
Vehicles must be equiped with recovery points (2 front and 2 rear), recovery gear, fire extinguishers and basic tools.

Due to the intensity of the training and the limited time, we'll have to limit the number of entrants. It will be handled on a first-come-first -served basis. This is also not limited to Capeys, if you are interested and prepared to travel, you are more than welcome to join us.

Be prepared for a weekend with lots of sweat and hard work. :thumbup: As a reward you will be able to proudly display your Advanced Driver certificate behind your bar-counter, knowing that you are one of only a handful of Advanced Drivers in the good ole RSA. :clap: :clap:

This event is definitely going ahead. We will be sending out email invitations to our accredited offroad vehicle operators shortly.

If you want to attend remember that you need to be competent in US254135 (Offroad Vehicle Operator). There will be opportunities to obtain this accreditation before the Bootcamp in November. :thumbup: :thumbup:

This event was a huge success last year, and we aim to make this one even better... :yahoo: :yahoo:
