Re: Bridgestone Fundi Challenge - Marshalls
Have to say We had an absolute amazing time.....
Have to thank Bridgestone for well put together day and for allowing us the chance to drive the course on a farm that has never been driven on by the public.....
Although we had to take an escape rout out due to time, 000OMS thanks for leading the pack and again showing me just how capable my "YODA" is even with an amature behind the wheel (me).....
We would like to be the first on the list of marshals for the next round....
Thanks a million for locking up your rear wheels on the highway, and all due to us stopping on the side of the road for something to munch......
Its amazing that this hilux family just pulls together and seeing me on the side of the road made Cassie hit the breaks from 100&plenty to revers in seconds, just to come help.....
I thank you and will see you guys real soon.......

Lovely event will do it again, well planned and organized and of course well carried out by the Hilux4x4 team
- some shirts would be nice, I'll pay for mine
- some participants didn't have their own recovery equipment
Thanks to Werner for sharing his truck for the day and all efforts he made , he is a nice young man

Re: Bridgestone Fundi Challenge - Marshalls
Here are some pics taken of the event.
Heinrich and I arrived at the venue at approx. 17h00 just before sunset and some of the marshalls had already set up camp for the weekend After sunset it was evident that it was going to be chilly and some anti-freez welcome! Mike (Chief Marshall), downloading the routes to the Marshalls GPS units from his LT Main sponsor, Bridgestone briefing and explaining the importance of the farm's fona & flora. Mike and Andre (Clerck of the course) briefing Marshalls 'Chief braaiers' Werner And Johno & G, braaing something for the following long day Munchies for the Marshalls for the day of the event
Some other the other 'older experienced' Marshalls Up early and everyone had to be up and ready by 05h15.....brrrrrr!!!! But not before we had a hot cuppa and some rusks
Marshalls at 'Race control' before being posted on the route 05h30. Rece control: Some of the competitors arriving Some pics on route Fire truck on standby, in case of any fire.... Johno packing up and being relieved from duty :wink2: Werner showing how it should be done..... Slow as possible but as fast as required Nice view of the farm Ernst / Cleaners post.....hmmmm, nice Back at the camp site at around 17h00, there was a quick de-briefing Tx to Mike / Andre and the sponsor Bridgestone for for a nice outing! Hope to see you at the next event
18 August 2012.....TBA :!:

Nice pics Tumelo I think you had the most exciting obstackle
I think at the end of the day Mike and his team would prefer a committed dedicated Hilux Marshall team, for obvious reasons. Yes, there may be work and 'other' commitments marshalls are faced with. I think it's fair to to say the Marshalls did an excellent job Hope to see you at the next event :wink2:
I will be meeting with Mike, later this week to discuss the next event.....so watch this space if you want to join in on the fun of the next event

That obstacle was a stinker. We were building road on that thing for nearly the complete marshal convoy. (I did try to make it more difficult for the LR's).CasKru wrote:The foto's doesn't do that obstacle any justice. I had to assist a Suzuki Grand Vitara up there
It was a great weekend, thanks for all the guys who was there. We have an awesome group, and the attitude was first rate.
We will do this again.
PS. Mark, do we have a picture of the twins?

Re: Bridgestone Fundi Challenge - Marshalls(with pics, P7!)
We would like to say that it was a great day. The whole team came together and performed exceptionally. The event ran like clockwork. I had a little chat with a few of the older “Fundi’s” who all complimented us on the way we all just slotted in like gears. No hiccups and issues. A big well done to all!!!
Unfortunately due to not knowing we had to bring a vehicle with LOW range we were not able to be placed at our point with the rest of the team at 04h45 but we were fortunate to have been able to have been a part of the scrutineering team after which we were led to our position at 11h00 which was the last marshaling point for the event. Sweep 2 (OOOOMS) gladly took his time to relieve us from our duties as could be expected but I had my revenge on the way back home later that evening. I don’t know how the other found it but we found the weekend to be a whole lot more than ‘work’ if I can put it like that. Yes we had duties etc but we were a part of the event, we had the chance to drive the trail and experience the trail. It was more of a GTG type event where we were able to meet new people and do the trail. It was not like we were asked to come, Placed at our points and asked to leave. We felt part of the whole story.
A big thank you goes out to all the guys at Bridgestone who afforded us the opportunity to have been a part of the event, Mike and Andre for all they did and all the HILUX4x4 members who were a part of the event. Our apologies to all those we didn’t really have the chance to chat to when we arrived (MOFASA) but we will make up for it next time.
We will most certainly join in and be a part of the next event!!!

Well once again THANKS for being the awesome bunch that you all are. You guys came and conquered and very professionally done too. Any poss comments and criticisms... please pm them to me. Donkey... do you know which competitor didnt have a tow rope? They actually all have (and checked at scruiteneering) but he probably did not want to get his dirty, so Bollocks to him, and well done to you.
Does anyone still have a hand held radio that was not handed back? We seem to be one short (not accusing but merely checking).
RADIO FOUND. It had slipped behind Richard's seat.

Bridgestone Fundi Challenge - Marshalls(with pics, P7!)
This was an exceptional well organized experience and can't wait for the next one. Thanks again Mike for affording us to drive on this pristine area. To all the campfires were great and it was great chatting to all! I have to agree with Mark, we had the best spot for the day that brought a lot of excitement, 4 recoveries including non competitors. Donkey thanks for sharing the tent and packing up, really appreciate your efforts, a start of a great friendship. We gonna have to look out on the Ignition channel to see how we play Rock, Paper, Scissors on TV, somewhere in October...

Hi Guys if I remember correctly it was somewhere in October, but on Ignition channel, so because it is only accessible over the weekend, it would most likely be on a Saturday I guess...
