Ek is bly om te kan oor dra dat Mark Watson my cruizer se hartoorplanting gan doen!
Ek het maar besluit om met die 1UZ non VVT motor te gan met aftermarket fuel management en ek hou die ou gearboks want hulle kan mos nie breek nie.

Ek moet se eks opgewonde hoor :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo:

Ons het dieselfde conversion gedoen so 6 jaar gelede met n ou 4spd box, die box hou, maar die bearings hou nie, hulle kan nie die rpm's hanteer nie, ons het die bearings al drie keer vervang. Hulle sal die ratkas ook vorentoe moet skuif. Ten spyte daarvan is dit n baie lekker conversion.

Dan sal ek maar vorentoe kyk na n nuwe gearboks. Hoekom moet die ratkas geskuif word? 3 keer is 6 jaar is nie te bad nie :mrgreen:

Kyk, ek's baie jaloers! Maar baie geluk! :thumbup:

El het sopas weer R16k op my '78 HJ spandeer om die head en injectors oor te doen, maar wens nou ek het 2 jaar terug toe ek met die "restourasie" begin het liewer die 1UZ roete geloop. Oh well, ek sal maar net die thread dophou met verlange... :drool:

Ek sal seker maak ek neem klomp fotos van die storie maar na ek theo se cruiser gesien het het my alie teveel gejeuk an alles was aangehelp toe 4x4megaworld vir my gese het daar is nie ARB airlockers beskikbaar huidiglik in ZA nie toe krap ek nog n paar rand by mekaar en doen nou die 1UZ conversion. Die ekstra 25kW tussen die non VVT en die VVT motor was ook te verleidend so het maar besluit om die VVTi motor te laat insit.

great stef , but as we were saying the day you dropped hangover , yes you will have the naysayers ( demon especially - but waiting for his stuff because as they say put your money where your mouth is ) but we will see.

Not so good i think i'm phoning mark to much hahaha
Well mark is busy with the motor prep i think this takes a 2-3 weeks and in the meantime he is finishing up some of his other work so my van can get into a slot and then get started on! I know there is a few cars that is almost going out so hopefully mine will go quick!

no problem stef , just waiting for the met gold 80 ( friday ) ,the gs 300 lexus ( friday - will be at aircon thursday ) and start up heins disco 1 , then we will slot hangover in . the white sangyong will move tommorow , and then i can slot the hybrid 62/80 in its place and then we can also get the 105 with the 2jz gte into a slot , busy looking at another shop that i think we will move into jan sometime , guys are bugging me to get a dyno but i dont want one otherwise it will tie all my time up on it.

I think i will come and visit you next weekend if you guys are open on Saturday... I bought a few ammo boxes from cassie that n need to pick up in benoni and i guess a few things would have happened by then!

Looking good Stef !


You will never be sorry about going with a viscous fan.We just came back from a very hot Cederberg weekend including Piekenierskloof pass at 37 deg C and the gauge didn't move from normal position at all. :cooldude:

great theo , even managed to get an inverted viscous steel blade fan ( fan sits behind the viscous ) which will work like a charm for milla

Mark told me thats the best way to go and as my van will be seeing botswana shortly i think that 37deg will be tested at 40+!

I am convinced Olive will handle that and more.But we probably did overkill things a bit with the larger oil sump, cerramic coated headers + balance pipe, perfect fan shroud and very free flow zaursts - it all adds up to a perfect setup :thumbup:

Yup mine will also have the 2 liter larger sump, balance pipe, new shroud, and free flow zaursts i dont know bout the ceramic coated heads! but im sure Mark will make mine as perfect as yours! Does your cruiser have the original Power steering box or is it the same as mine there in the front?

It is not the heads but the headers/manifolds, Stef.

Yes we used my original P/S box but it had just been completely rebuilt :thumbup:

but crikey my stepdad turned 75 on friday and i still cannot get him off the lathe , he just wants more flywheels , adaptors and gearboxes to machine stef , so he will be climbing onto yours soon , and then another 4 x 80 series flys and then navara and then bmw x 4 ( even told him we cannot machine the whole gearbox but he modded the lathe to take the gearbox and ground the bed in its glory for the navara ) , there is no stopping this guy , i will have to bury the lathe with him :wth: :wth: :wth: , he says thats all dreams about at night. :cool: :) :) :) :) :)

I went to Mark over the weekend! I think he might have the bell-housing by today then he can weld in the new engine mounts and put the motor in... some pics...

Ek kort langer shocks voor hulle trek tot in hulle limit in weet iemand watter sal pas? ek dink daar is N82 OME shocks voor op kort nog so 50mm travel ek dink...

Stef, you need to measure the max extension and compression lenths before you buy.Also compare the expected weight of your vehicle with that of the original vehicle that the particular shocks were intended for - some folks allow themselves to be blinded by max travel and ignore the rest of the factors, to only afterwards when it is too late, realise that Ford F250 shocks might give you longer travel but it leaves you with too little compression lenth not to mention a bone-shuddering harsh ride.On Olive I have N30(Colt D/C rear shocks IIRC) in the front and N75F (Hilux Extra lenth IIRC ) in the rear - do some homework and you will see why :wink2:

Stef die shock voor was die ou part# N81, 'n oog bo en onder. Ek sien wel jy het langer shacles ook in dan sal die shock beslis kort wees.

Die shock wat die N81 heeltemal vervang is die OME60032 wat dan 597mm(so 98mm langer) lanks sal wees of die OME60057 wat 559mm(66mm langer) lanks sal wees.

It was because of my shackle lift that I have the problem now... Should i remove the shocks in the front and measure the full and compressed lengths and buy accordingly? Louis jy kan dalk help hier?

That's it.Load the vehicle to the ave expected load and then go flex it till max on a good crossaxle and measure the min and max distance pin to pin

Ok cool will do so... I don't have problems at the back so loading the back wouldn't make much of a difference the front wont differ that much loaded as more of the weight will be on the back wheels and i wont load it too much...

Louis ek sal moet gan meet as ek weer na Mark toe gan maar ek dink ek het hulle met 80mm verleng van die original shackles af...

Ok, lyk of die as dan hang aan die shock. As dit dan bv.80 + 70(OE) is dan is dit totaal 150mm. So die lift sou wees 70mm, dan soek jy 'n shock wat dan omtrent grooter of gelyk aan dit sal wees met lengte. Net een ding die kompresie lengte sal nou ook lanker wees, kyk na die bumpstop om die te lig.

For now ill stick with the OEM filter housing I dont really like to go into the water as water and mud breaks stuff

My cruiser had the OEM FJ45 filter in before the conversion and Mark is going to use it so that's not a problem
