Where did you get your username/Nick from?
I thought this could be an interesting topic. Why did you choose your username? Or your nickname?

Re: Where did you get your username/Nick from?
When the people on the west coast phone me, to order parts etc. they refer to a SFA as a "Hoppy", they say it's because of the hard suspension and if you give it enough stick, it does't get stuck, it starts to hop and jumps out of the obstacle.
I've been driving and working on SFA's for more than 20 years, so i adopted the nickname.

Re: Where did you get your username/Nick from?
Well okay, as I started this thread I supose I must tell you all where mine came from.
Well when I was in school always woundered if there was life on the other plannets as I just could not believe that our great GOD would create such an amazing world out there but only put life on 1 planet. There are billions of solar systems out there each with their own plannets. This discussion always seemed to come up and thus the name started. FYI, I do not believe in little green men... haha.

Mountain Man:
I used to build and maintain Two-Way Radio Repeater sites located on top of mountains. Being exposed to sometimes extremely cold conditions I became very used to and resilient to the cold. In town the weather was a lot warmer then on top of the mountain so when I used to come down off the mountain, and walk around without a jersey and in short pants I got the nickname of Mountain Man. This is still a trait I carry through to today.

Just because it says "4WD" doesn't make it an off-road vehicle.

The name stuck after a wild coast fishing trip when we were still permitted to travel along the beaches. Tried to prove a point at a particularly deep mud pit (and failed ). It took 2 luxes in tandem to get me out while the term "mad dogs and Englishmen" was bandied about. This quickly changed to "mud dogs and Englishmen". Managed to prove the point on a second attempt with a slightly different route, and the muddy appearance of the vehicle and I only emphasised the name. We both took a quick "bath" in a nearby river but the name never washed off.

Big D, if "D" was for Doofus, I don't blame you for rather not saying...
Oupa Stig: my son is 6yrs old, my daughter not yet born, only due end June, so as far as I know I aint nobody's Oupa..
But my 6yr old was fascinated with Stig and called anyone whom he thought to be super cool Oupa...
So there is a Oupa Stig, Oupa Aarde (his father Christmas) Oupa Natie, Oupa Otto, Oupa this and that.
So when the forum wanted a nickname Oupa Stig sorta stuck in my head....

"Legend35-ZN"
I've owned 3 2.7i Legend35's since 2004. 2 x 2x4 D/C's and 1 x 4x4 D/C.
At one stage I owned all 3 at once. The first one I bough new in 2004, the second on used in 2006. What I thought was a bargin turned out to be a Code 3 with 12000km's on the clock. Bought the 4x4 on an auction two years ago with the intention of using the Code 3 as a clone, to fix up the 4x4.
The ZN donates KZN, where my home is.
My wife nicknamed me Legend35, because our friends always commented on the fleet of Legends when visiting.

Unlike what many may think...
I love donkeys cos they're stubborn, simple, strong, under-rated and mix with the poorest of the poor, I'm not one for bling and fancy stuff, hence donkey.

My Nick comes from years back.
Everyone always used to tease me about the size of my feet, (Size 15) hence the name "Pote"

Blitzkrieg
Ou duitse woord in wereld oorlog.

Baasvark (I am a pig farmer/pork producer)
When I moved here 12 yrs ago, I obviuosly didn't know anyone in the area. So I spent a lot of time introducing myself to my neighbours & new people I met. One day a guy said to me "so jy is eintlik die Baasvark" and so the name stuck.

Thanx, my nickname I carried from school was "Mielie" because of my western Transvaal rugby colours(emblem was a mielie).Pora wrote:The one guy in my bf3 clan he's name is "DanTheMan"Danman wrote:Halflife game name given to me by fellow players "Danie the maniac" :wth: abbreviated "DanMan"

But that raised too many questions...... :wth: that I got tired of explaining. Most of my school friend still refer to me by that name.
But since Danman was bestowed upon me by the halflife clan, it stuck
