Does anyone know if I can fit rear seatbels in a Xtracab?

This is another hot topic ... :)


For years Club-cabs and Xtra-cabs were sold on the basis of NO rear seats - this was the basis for the VAT perk.


To this day many believe rear seats to be illegal. And in many cases it is. In fact most club cabs are registered for 2 people only.


But times change.



You CAN now order a Ranger Club-cab WITH rear seats and seat belts AND with 5 people on the license disc - AND no VAT perk !!



So what about the Hilux ????


Uhm ja ....

Would love the hear from the NAMIBIAN members if this is an option in Namibia - to get rear seats and safety belts. If so, then it is practically possible. Legally there is still the issue of the number of people on the license disc ....


And then the other problem with the SA version of the Hilux club-cab - no rear doors ... so getting in and out may well be fun ....

I have installed rear seatbelts in my extra cab, all nuts are already in the body, just need to dril holes in the plastic.

@ Chris Ive heard that if you re-roadworthy with the belts installed then it changes your disc to 4 or 5 people.

@Rood I havent removed any covers to check but I started to check where to mount the stalks in the middle but I couldnt see any mountings to put them... How did you fasten the stalks?

Middag Frederick,

Die onderste gedeelte van die sitplek heg aan met Velcro op en teen die mat van die bakkie, die sitplek gordels word , Autoclean wat gewoonlik ons installasies doen is vir een of ander rede toe die week maar hulle kan jou n prys gee om belde te anker. Onder die bakkie, onder die sitplek gedeelte is daar 2 x M13 moere wat vas gesweis is, gaatjies moet deur die moer geboor word om die sitplek anker boude daarin vas te draai.

Ek hoop dit maak sin.

Dankie vir die navraag, skuus ek besef nou ons het nie op ons pryslys nie, die Hilux het n rugstuk maar nie sitplek nie, so dis net die boud kussing wat ons vir die Hilux doen. @ R 688.00 vir die twee sitplekke, sonder sitplek gordels.

Tungsten, under the cab near the end you will see a smal plate with a nut welded to it, i have tigten a balt from the bottom that it made a dent on the inside, punched and then drilled the hole. Hope this will help.

Reading this thread.......does it mean if you re-roadworthy a X-Tra Cab with belts installed, it will be a 4 or 5 seater?

I think the new Hilux will have rear doors
