When your road comes to an end ...... you need a HILUX!.
Life is like a jar of Jalapeño peppers ... what you do today, might burn your ass tomorrow.
Don't take life too seriously ..... no-one gets out alive.
It's not about waiting for storms to pass. It's about learning to dance in the rain.
And be yourself ..... everyone else is taken!

Louis, I received your application last night and sent the User Authority at the same time. You should have received it, if not, it may have landed in your "Junk" filter.
Please check & advise - it was sent to the email address with which you registered on the forum.

Hi Andy,
I have received my confirmation that my Club Membership has been renewed, but have not received the radio authorisation for this year, that is supposed to go with it, so I have an illegally operated radio.
Just print and keep for me. I'll collect from you.
Hope your overseas visitor is back otherwise I don't get coffee.

Edge, the licences are sent off directly from the club database, we still have to work out a method where the database issues them automatically upon renewal of membership. I have forwarded a copy on to you.

Has this been completed? The automated license "sending"?
Just renewed for 2018 and not entirely sure on how to get the new approval certificate.
Dankie my oom!

Hi Jacques. The automated thingy would be great but it looks like it's a bit of a problem to get sorted. I've just checked and seen that your renewal payment has been processed so I'll get your VHF Radio LoA sent on to you.

Hi Andy,
Am I right in thinking that the VHF licence expires end March and membership renewal is due now, or is this based on when you joined. A little lost as to whether I am needing to renew etc and how to go about this etc.
cheers Brent

Re: Hilux Club VHF Radio LIcence - How to Apply!
Hi Brent. Firstly a belated welcome with your first post.
The ORRA licences expire end March, but ours are valid for as long as you remain a member of the club. All you need to do is to renew your membership on it's anniversary - yours is only due on 2017-11-22 and I see that you have an HC registration number, so you're OK until then. (You will get a renewal notice at that time.)
When you renew your club membership just ask for an updated LOA and we'll send one on to you - we have struggled with the automation of sending out these letters of authority with renewals and unfortunately still have to do them manually. You can ask here or just send a PM to either myself, Eric - aka "Family_Dog" (our radio officer) or mail club admin and our chairperson or secretary will be able to send one on to you.
Just ask here if you need help or 'come unstuck'.

Christoff, stuur die PoP vir my aan asseblief, jou profile is nog "inactive", dan sal ek dit uitsorteer. Daar is op hierdie stadium geen radio lisensie vir jou nie, ek werk net met radiolisensies maar is bereid om te help.

Re: Hilux Club VHF Radio LIcence - How to Apply!
sorry to be pain, a few questions please or direct me to where I might find the answers
1) How many radios allowed per member eg can I license more than one for traveling in convoys of hunting.
2) is it strictly restricted to Hilux member or can "oily patches" also join
3) what is the permitted power output of the radios
4) average range, do they make use of any repeaters
5) Can they be programed to agricultural fire and emergency channels
Thank you

Re: Hilux Club VHF Radio LIcence - How to Apply!
Replies inline...
1) How many radios allowed per member eg can I license more than one for traveling in convoys of hunting.
As many VHF radios as you wish
2) is it strictly restricted to Hilux member or can "oily patches" also join
Any Hilux Club Member will get the licence free of charge after competing the formalities explained in the opening post. Joining the Club is a pre-requisite.
3) what is the permitted power output of the radios
Legal RF output of radios are: 5 watts per portable radio, 25 watts per mobile radio.
4) average range, do they make use of any repeaters
No repeaters, all channels are VHF Simplex. The range is line of sight, approximately 2-3km between portable radios and 8-10km between vehicles with roof-top antennas, less if the antennas are mounted elsewhere.
5) Can they be programed to agricultural fire and emergency channels
They can be programmed by a dealer for any licenced VHF frequency. Presentation of the applicable licence and a letter of authorisation is required for this. The additional frequencies should ideally be within the 150 - 162MHz band or otherwise an antenna mismatch will occur.
The radios are not compatible with the older "Marnet - Burg B" radios which operate on Midband, 66-68MHz.
