HCDP 30amp not switching to solar

Hi
Could someone please give me some advice?
I bought the HCDP 30Amp dc to dc charger and connected it as per the documentation I got. It works fine when the engine is running but does not switch over to solar when I turn the engine off. I have an amp meter connected inline to check how many amp is going into the battery. Nothing with 2 80w panels.

When I manually switch it over to solar it then shows that it’s charging but does not do this automatically.

Any help?

The Hcdp dctodc chargers don't automatically switch between alty and solar, you must switch manually nê.

Hi. I think you got the older model. The new models dont have a switch. Where did you buy it from

Bought it from 4x4 Direct in Feb this year. Even the documents I got from them stated auto switch over.

Also give them the unit serial number.

They will take it up with Manie of HCDP.

No they sent an old unit by mistake.

I suppose that can (and does) happen from time to time, even with the best of the best. What counts in such cases is how it's handled after the fact. Glad to hear that you're getting sorted immediately.

According to the HCDP website this switch only came into effect in May 2016 .... sure there must be MANY old units on shelves throughout SA ....

Not that many dealers that would react THIS quickly though !! RESPECT !!

Question please:

Do the units cooling fans run when it's on Solar only?

I am not sure, will check when I get my new unit. I can’t remember hearing the fan on solar, but that might just be due to the low amps. I think the fans are triggered when the amp goes past a certain point and my panels have only given about 5a .
