Post by mcw »

Hi All

Maybe someone can shed some light for me

So i have the Prado 3 weeks now every so often when idling stall at robot ,starts first time then happens
again .
So after some research ,decided to clean throttle body and MAF sensor ,but when i removed rubber pipe and MAF sensor all looked very clean ,
I saw this though

Are you talking about those lines visible at 6-o-clock? If he throttle body is cracked there it can mean it is sucking in air there which would be more than the throttle position sensor is indicating the computer should expect which could serve to confuse it. But it would have to be a big enough leak to confuse the system.

To test I would try and tape it up on the outside with insulation tape or duct tape just to stop any air leaks and purely as a means to check if there is a leak to begin with and if it has an influence. Just make sure the throttle body is clean enough to get a good enough seal with the tape.

If it leaking and causing the problem you are probably best off by just replacing the throttle body.

Hope this helps in some manner.

Sure it's not a "Blou motion" Prado??

Is it stalling with your foot on the brake in Drive or without?
