Hi almal,
Ons gaan nog baie ry by Bosvark Adventure Park en ANDRE aka Pype gee my lui ons gaan almal volgende keer weer saam jou......!!!!
Otto, magtie jy kan vir Super Sport gaan werk - jou kamera werk lyk goed. Dan ek hou van daai camel sleep.... Pas sommer by Landi....... Jammer ek het eers laat daaraangekom.

Solly, this issue could be a very slippery slope. Firstly let me say that for all I know, Andre' might be one of the nicest guys you could wish to meet and this is not intended as an attack on anyone, but whether he knows his limits or not, it remains a bad example. Yes, I recall Andre' speaking of knowing your limits at the time when the issue was discussed at club AGM, and I also remember that the general consensus was no alcoholic beverages before or during a trail. I don't see the need to consume such at that time, and why can't it wait till afterward around a braai / campfire. Trails and obstacles require more skill and concentration than tar and gravel, where the legal limit is 1 or 2 drinks and so the general feeling is that it's a no - no on trails. Even though it may not be the case, fair or unfair, it gives the impression of reckless abandon and irresponsibility on the part of the 'consumer' by those that witness it. People then become concerned about their safety and that of their kids (family outings) and their property. An undesireable scenario.Bloues wrote:Hi almal,

Andre' I'm not your "school teacher" and nor am I trying to be, but the moment you do this at a club organised event or have a club sticker on your vehicle, you involve us as a club even though it's not your intention to do so. In my opinion then, the reputation of the club should take precedence over the individual's wish to have a drink before a trail. At the time of the AGM discussion you seemed to come to terms with the principle and agreed to go along with it. Give it some more thought, mate. I don't think it's too much to ask, really. Please take this in the spirit that it is intended.

Andy - interesting comment.
Please just give me a reason/comment on the following
"WHY DO PEOPLE TEND TO ALWAYS TRY TO SEE THE NEGATIVE PART OF EVERYTHING - WHY NOT THE POSSITIVE AND THE LEKKER OF THE DAY"
"Would Popmar registered and commented if it was not for the beers" ? Dont think so - why always just go to an event to see what we can find wrong and to complain about ?
I also think that there still need to be a understanding on family outing and competition......
How many people said - great day ???!!!! .......... the managment of the trails cannot be everywhere neither look at everybody !!!

Solly thanks for seeing in my point
Mud Dog I do agree with you about it takes more skills. If you feel uncomfortable drinking one or tow beer on a trail and the others that feel so good for you like I said I will not be joining official forum GTG any more.
'Daar is net twee goed wat ek moet doen dit is eet en skuit'
And in any way I have my own Club where 'kinderkraans' stuff like this do not mater.
Now for all of you that has the no drinking view I invite you to come and see what my skill level is like on a trail you will be surprised.
I am done talking about this point. I WILL HAVE MY BEER ON A TRAIL IF I FEEL LIKE IT I will also remove my Hilux Club Sticker from my vehicle so the forum or club does not get any more negativity.

Re: Action 4x4 Family Day - Krugersdorp 15/11/09 WesRand Gauteng
Okay guys, we can get into the whole "Drink and Drive" debate again or we can learn from this incident.
As far as I am concerned, Popmar has every right to air his opinion and even if some of us disagree with him we have to respect his views. I was not there, so I am not going to comment on the amount of alcohol consumed, but it was made very clear and accepted by all as a part of the Club Rules that alcohol will not be consumed while 4x4 driving activities are underway. That does not mean one beer every 2 hours is okay, it means NO beers until after the event is okay.
I agree with Andy that as soon as an event is organised under the auspices of the Hilux4x4 Club/Forum, it involves all of us, and that the good name of the Club/Forum is at stake. Therefore every person attending such an event should at all time behave in a way that will not be detrimental to the name of the Club/Forum, and should be setting an example to others who are not members of the Club/Forum. Personal attacks on Popmar for wairing his views are not going to solve this and censoring him is also not the way to go. I would rather have Popmar complain about his experience here on the forum where we can all see it and take note of it than have him complaining about it behind our backs and maybe even on other forums. Let this be a lesson to all of us that we are being watched and that we should behave in a manner that is beyond reproach, and maybe next time Popmar or somebody else will come along and also say "What a Great Day!!"... I am not saying that we should turn 4x4 events into Sunday School picnics, but we have to do it in such a way that it is safe for everybody, wives, women and children included.
This is a very nice thread and it looks like it was a very nice day after all, and at the moment I for one am very envious of not having been able to join you guys in having some fun in the mud. Come lets keep it clean though.

Nadat ek alles gelees het wat geskryf staan vir en teen wat ek as my aanvanklike waarneming deurgegee het die volgende.
Andre, ek ken jou van geen kant af nie en het geensins bedoel om jou as persoon te na te kom nie. Aanvaar my verskoning as jy reken dit is teen jou gemik.
Soos Andre staan en val by sy sienswyse so staan ek by my sienswyse.
Mooi loop (ry) tot `n volgende byeenkoms.

Rather post some more pictures of Hiluxes in mud and stuff...
It lookes like you had a successful and enjoyable outing. Well done to the organisers and of course to the attendees. Wish I had a few more forum buds on my own doorstep to go play with. Count yourselves lucky to have the numbers you do and to have guys like Solly and Mark that make things happen! Keep it up!
When your road comes to an end ...... you need a HILUX!.
Life is like a jar of Jalapeño peppers ... what you do today, might burn your ass tomorrow.
Don't take life too seriously ..... no-one gets out alive.
It's not about waiting for storms to pass. It's about learning to dance in the rain.
And be yourself ..... everyone else is taken!
