Tips & tricks - Lesson learned today (again)

Post by CasKru »

Just though I'd post this lesson. When working under your bakkie or anywhere where there is small particles that can fall into your eye, where safety glasses. Usually this wouldn't have bothered me. I'm almost used to the odd piece of mud falling into my eye. But my current project is to redo the fuel hoses front to back and redoing the long range tank pipe work etc. An I was the lucky one to receive about 5 drops of petrol into my right eye     No that nice I must admit but had I been wearing safety glasses...... :shifty: :shifty: :shifty:

Sorry for that one Cassie, hope it was unleaded, the leaded fuel is heavier, so it falls harder

Seker so 2 ure daarna.

PS: 'n 60A main fuse kos so R25

Luckily no hair was removed.... (wasn't smoking or using an open flame when this happened)

Luckily I didn't have stick on hair so it did not come off

I'm wondering how you could have lost your underarm hair? Really the first time I hear of petrol causing that effect when it is not lit   (I used Unleaded... that's maybe why)

The safety glasses thing is actually quite an issue with me. I have several pairs in the workshop, all with scratched lenses. Invariably they get put down somewhere after use, and even when hung up again, collect dust that scratches the lenses a little each time they get wiped when I want to use them. The cheapies don't last long either before they're scratched or the head-band loses it's elasticity. I now keep a few new ones in my office so that there is always a useable set available although I mostly prefer using a full face shield. I'm not a 'sweatter' so don't have big issues with the misting up thing, but woodwork activities foul them up quickly .... can be irritating, but rather that than eye / facial damage.
