Clamp on or threaded? Threaded is far better, and if threaded, how deep (far back) is the thread on the muzzle?

When your road comes to an end ...... you need a HILUX!.
Life is like a jar of Jalapeño peppers ... what you do today, might burn your ass tomorrow.
Don't take life too seriously ..... no-one gets out alive.
It's not about waiting for storms to pass. It's about learning to dance in the rain.
And be yourself ..... everyone else is taken!

Re: Rifle Silencers
If you're not using sub-sonic ammo, you're only damping the gas 'pop' .... will certainly be a lot quieter from your position, but won't make too much difference at the point of target. Sub-sonic loads will achieve the best results by far but range and accuracy become seriously limited. Either way silencers are very useful in keeping the stress levels down of the surrounding game and livestock. They are becoming more and more popular with hunters since they have been legalised a few years back. Do you still need a permit?

MD, you can have a reflex type made which will bring down a .30-06 to below .22 levels (measured with a dB meter) for less than that. However not anybody can make a reflex silencer.Mud Dog wrote:Is that including fitting!??
Know what you don't know.

Whilst hunting predators at night with lights is undeniably a lot of fun, it is unlikely to reduce your livestock losses. Ou jaks is a lot cleverer than you are, and predator vacuums are quickly filled, especially when they're having 2 litters a year.
If it makes you feel better, by all means go ahead though.
