Post by Thabogrobler »

I read these interesting articles:

https://www.speedforsale.com/supraparts ... ddt04bvtb6" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

http://www.toyotanation.com/forum/19-su ... turbo.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Who is gonna tinker?

I was wondering about this over the weekend
The one guy said he wanted to upgrade the turbo because the OEM turbo restricted air flow at high rpm, causing EGT to rise.

What I was wondering; The older KZ motor is known to overheat and blow head gasket at about 200,000km
The KZ motor in the 120 Prado apparently do not have the same problem. What did they change? Did they perhaps fit a bigger turbo?
Was the overheating problem in the old motor due to a design/factory fault?

As far as I know the Prado suffers the same fate with head failures . They deliver more power ,because of an IC and different ECU

The first Prado 90's did not have an intercooler either and suffered the same dilemma. Later on it was fitted and all the 120's have it.

Hi George

have you fitted this yet? how is this working so far?
Jip.Its fitted and works good for me.
Will I buy this unit again.Maybe not.
A few things that bothered.
The display unit is larger than what shows on their pic.That made it difficult to find a decent place to install.
The first place I put it was to dark.There is no display light so you cant see much.I installed a few led bulbs on the inside of the casing so now I can at least see in the dark .I am happy for now,but the display unit kept me busy for around 3 hours fiddeling with it.

Next time I would rather go with the Madman EGT.
