Re: 1986 Hilux 2.2 still worth it?
True ...
but R100k is only the 20% odd deposit on a new (std) one so that's not even in the equation...
Mine currently insured for R112k, extras listed as R54k 'cause there is no LTD on the insurance systems.
So , point is, in Jeremy's shoes I would rather buy a R100k '97/98 SFA in the same condition as mine as opposed to a 2001 IFS with 500k+ km on it with the same extras, especially if you've seen the conditions of some.
I believe there is still a market for R80k-R110k SFA's (and some have sold for R110k on this forum not so long ago), albeit that they are rare finds, but they would generally be in far better condition than any IFS in the same price range.
Incidentally I saw a 94 SFA last week at a car dealer in the area for R89 900...stock standard, and it was gone this weekend past....

My 1989 D/C SFA is insured for R152 000 after I provided my broker with valuation certificate of bakkie and invoices for extras on my bakkie. Will I sell it for under R100 000? Never ever.

I need to redo the valuation on mine as well....with the R/$ rate & all...
Dawie your SFA is mint original...the more factory original the higher the price.

When your road comes to an end ...... you need a HILUX!.
Life is like a jar of Jalapeño peppers ... what you do today, might burn your ass tomorrow.
Don't take life too seriously ..... no-one gets out alive.
It's not about waiting for storms to pass. It's about learning to dance in the rain.
And be yourself ..... everyone else is taken!
