Intercooler gasket leak
I seem to have a leak on my pipe from turbo to intercooler. I have already taken it off, cleaned and replaced. But still seems to be leaking. Logic dictates next step is to replace the gasket? It's a metal gasket.
Also, should there be oil coming out? This effectively means my turbo is leaking oil? Or does a turbo use oil normally?

Re: Intercooler gasket leak
Mine did the same. Just replace the steel gasket. Its like R50 from Toyota.
But dont strip the threads, that aluminium on cooler cant take alot of force.
Over time some oil do go through the system, no need to panic.

Re: Intercooler gasket leak
Discontinued part by Toyota. Would a vollumoid gasket be sufficient?

Re: Intercooler gasket leak
I cannot believe that it is discontinued. There are still many many of those vehicles on the road. In any Turbodiesel you will find some oil there. No reason to panic. I'm not sure if the vellumoid will work. Perhaps the thin one lightly coated with RTV on both sides?

Re: Intercooler gasket leak
The only gasket that will work there is the steel gasket trust me.
I called a buddy at Toyota. Yes he says the system shows discontinued, but its actually just a part nr change.
He will phone the factory tomorrow and get the new part nr, then you can go to your dealer and order it.
So just hang in there until tomorrow around 12.

Re: Intercooler gasket leak
Hi Mohamed
The part number that I can find on the system is 17116-0L010 but I'm suspecting this is the one that is changed into a new part number as Pierre mentioned.
