2700i, 3RZFE Valves

Post by Wayne »

Does anyone out there have the special service tool that holds down the shim cup so that the shim can be removed.

If so I would really appreciate it if they could take a photo of the tool alongside a ruler, as I would like to have one manufactured.

The toyota agent here in cape town dont do valve clearances on the 3RZFE they send it to Engineering workshops who remove the cams to get to the shims.

There is a tool that depresses the bucket so that you can get the shim out, Toyota should have one or be able to order you one as it is a standard Toyota SST (Special Service Tool). I wil post you a picture and part number later today. Haven't got one myself might have a picture somewhere.

Thanks that is exactly what Im looking for. By the way, the toyota dealers do not have these tools, they send the vehicle to engineering workshops who remove the cams to take out the shims, real heath robinsons.
