Been using a Hilux Vigo 2006 and found the ride to very bumpy. :wth: Especially here in northern Pakistan where the roads are very bad. I think the open back and lack of weight over the rear wheels makes it worse. Any solutions for this?
I heard putting sand bags in the bed of the truck can help? True?

Re: Ride Comfort: Fortuner vs Vigo
Hi Fareez, we have both, Fortuna(wife) and a Vigo(me). I have honestly not sat in the back of the Fortuner. But according to the kids there is a bit more space and the back seat can recline unlike the Vigo.
As for he ride comfort perhaps the Tuna is better as the rear has coils in stead of leaf springs.

Re: Ride Comfort: Fortuner vs Vigo
Ok so it seems you are saying its got better ride due to the coils.
And also maybe have more weight over the backend will make the ride less bumpy? I think the lack of weigh over the rear axle in the Vigo also contributes to the bumpy ride.
I'll do some research into coil suspension vs leaf spring.
Any other differences between the two? You are the perfect candidate to answer this question.
I know Fortuners have a central diff, which is useful. Any other goodies TUNA has which Vigo does not.
Or other way around?
Thanks alot for your help.

P.S IS your wife TUNA a auto or manual?

It is a Manual
Have you looked at aftermarket comfort rider blades like Ironman or Old Man Emu?

Re: Ride Comfort: Fortuner vs Vigo
Just in case somebody else has similar problems as we did with the Hilux Vigo.
The 1989 Toyota Land Cruiser which I have had the privilege to use for many years is a much better handling vehicle especially when conditions are slippery. Not sure why Toyota made this Hilux pickup so unstable in wet conditions.
Goes to show newer isn't always better.

Re: Ride Comfort: Fortuner vs Vigo
The Fortuner is certainly softer due to different suspension setup at the rear.
However, must say after the suspension upgrade on my Vigo, it is a pleasure to drive.
