Another (expensive) Drawer system

Post by Christiaankirsten »

Well, like Iv'e said....this was quite an expensive DIY project for me.....not because it should be, but because "wena" did not plan that well!!.......Bought a lot of unnecessary things, too many of them, and the wrong stuff!!......I think it must have topped out at around R4000.....but at least it came out ok....for me I guess

I decided to make it a bit more sturdy(and heavy!...but thanks to Allan, my 3.0D IFS can take the extra weight no problem!), as my bakkie is getting used not only for "leisure", but for work as well....this was what I used:

Steel frame, powder coated
18mm ply-wood
3 coats of dura-bak bakkieliner
furnlock slides(the 180kg ones)
alluminium plate as base for drawer( I had to go with a thinner base, as I never accounted for the 18mm ply-wood when I did my calculations and my ammo boxes didn't fit!-eish!)
self-drill screws

...heres a few pics

Tommorrow, I'm off to work for 5 weeks( Angola ) :( , and cannot wait to try out my expensive  drawer system when I return....then off to Namibia with SWAMBO for 2 weeks.... :yahoo:
