The reason why I drive Toyota
I started off with a Corona Mark II as a student. Very nice car for its time. Then were given a Cortina bakkie, still not sure why, but I trade the rubbish for Alfetta when start working and earned my own salary.
Then there were more Alfa's till they with drawn from the Country, then a Mazdas, a BMW and then started to buying Izusu's, four of them in a row till they become GM SA, and also bought a Opel for town use. That is the most expensive vehicle to maintain that I have.
I struggled one year to get rid of the last Isuzu when got fed up with GM. The most useless bunch of people together. That's when the new hilux's came out, and it also has the best back row seat space, so I bought one. Had some clutch issues in the beginning but when that was sorted never had any trouble, and drive now my second hilux, and will buy more, as they are more reliable, and the dealers are not so useless. Forget I had a Ford also and will never buy one again because of useless agents.
My son still drive the Opel (2004 Corsa) and sit currently in Piketberg, stranded, looks the water pump again. He was coming back from Stellenbosch. That car has done now about 90k km. They can't tel him when he will have the car back, maybe they will start stripping tomorrow . Three months before the Opel was at Somerset GM for some electric problems. It took 2 weeks, and the problem is still not fixed. And still he is not convinced to change. I offered him a Corrola twice.
Nouja, he will come round sometime.

When your road comes to an end ...... you need a HILUX!.
Life is like a jar of Jalapeño peppers ... what you do today, might burn your ass tomorrow.
Don't take life too seriously ..... no-one gets out alive.
It's not about waiting for storms to pass. It's about learning to dance in the rain.
And be yourself ..... everyone else is taken!

Re: The reason why I drive Toyota
1. My first Toyota was a 1989 Corolla 1.3L with a 2E motor, 4 speed - indistructable.
2. Next another Corolla, 1990 Gli TwinCam 16v 4AGE motor, still have it - in mint condition (new tyres, brakes, shox, suspension rubbers, paintwork)
3. 1994 Toyota Corolla 4AFE that I use as my daily, very reliable just hit 448 000km today and still going strong.
4. My first bakkie was a 1800 Stallion with a 2Y motor, CupCake called it "the ice cream truck" - sold it when business was not doing well.
5. Currently on a KZ, dreaming of a Prado one day
Never owned any other brand - never will

Re: The reason why I drive Toyota
Got a Citi Golf when I turned 18 (wrote it off 3 weeks later). Then bought a BMW 325i cabrio while traveling Europe? Then another Citi Golf when I started studying ( wrote it off 6 weeks later - dangerous cars these VW's ) then bought my dad's Camry off him and traded that in on a RAV4 (longest I ever owned a car).
Then bought a new Mini Cooper S JCW (awesome car! ) and then the biggest mistake of my life - sold the RAV and bought a... a... JEEP! after it cost me almost a R100k in repairs in less than a year! Then bought a new V6 Tuna, my 1972 Merc 280 S and the '78 Cruiser HJ45. The traded the Mini on a Porsche Boxter S (also an amazing car!!). Then came Bosbeer, my '88 Hilex.
Then came our first child and we sold the Porsche and bought an Audi A6. Also sold the Tuna and bought a new Cruiser V6 pickup this year. So, 5 Toyota's (still own 3); 2 VW's (dangerous cars...); 1Mini; 1 Audi; 1 BMW; 1 Merc; 1 HEEP and 1 Porsche...

Re: The reason why I drive Toyota
My first vehicle was a 1996 Mazda tree to tree .... given to me by my mom when I was finished with school.....also the first vehicle that broke down next to the road
Next vehicle was a Ford Fiesta .... lovely little car, but not suitable for children as it was a two-door car
Then 3 x Audi A4 2L FSI ... If I ever have to drive a "plarkar" then it will be an audi. Best customer services in my life .... I haven't own an Audi in 4 years, although I still get calls from Audi asking me if my last vehicle service was in order
Currently driving the Tuna and hopefully will be driving it for a very long time ....

Re: The reason why I drive Toyota
Geez, OOODS! Where did you have yours serviced? I had excellent pre-sales service, but after sale not so much! Except for the fact that I had to take the car back numerous times to have small niggles fixed, they now don't want to sell me a Q7 to replace my A6...
Now looking at a Amakrok to replace it as the family platkar...
