Assistance A4C
I recently unexpectedly joined as registered member of Adventures4Chris and learned what difficulties
these guys are facing trying to make ends meet just to help others in need.
They are working hard to get the A4C Online shop running and have to rely on members registering and
supporting the online shop but not only that, they also need to rely on donations to make their "Outreaches" and missionary support possible.
Some of us may already know that we have a A4C member on our forum and that he unfortunately had to sell his A4C Hilux which was used for "Outreaches". This is very sad but they do still however have two broken down vehicles which they are trying to get up n running for their next Botswana, Namibia, Zambia, Zimbabwe Outreach. The one vehicle is a Nissan Patrol of which A4C need to gather about R10k to get it back from the mechanical workshop where the clutch and numerous other parts were fixed. Then there is a Nissan Hardbody in need of a new set of tyres before it can hit the road.
As A4C have no supporting structure in the Western Cape area I have volunteered to take it upon myself to start fund raisers form our side by spreading the word and asking for support from our members. It's a small start but hopefully this action can soon spread over to other provinces in support of this good cause.
I am new to this and not even sure if I'm going about it the correct way so I will appreciate any guidance and support form event organizers, club comity and forum/Hilux4x4 Club members.
Thanks in advance.
Johan

Re: Events for the WC till the end of the year
My initial thought after reading Johannes' post was what is the Nissan Club doing to help out one of their own?
Asking the Hilux forum to help getting their NISSANS going is akin to asking a Stormers supporter to wear pink at Loftus.
But I guess we could use this to show the Nissan Owners Club - or whatever - a thing or two.

Thanks for considering to support the cause, this is however n request to support Adventures 4 Chris and has nothing to do with the only two vehicles (Nissan) they have available to do their work.
Beggars can't be choosers, and unfortunately that's how it always is when doing missionary work, you have to beg
If we can support them enough they might even be able to upgrade to Hilux again, all the more reason to start supporting.

OK.....where to from here?
A4C has offered some good deals to Hilux Club Members for the past few months, perhaps we give back and support

Thanks for helping taking the first steps, I'm new to this and not sure where to start either, thought about asking for donations during monthly GTG events, then there is also the encouragement to register as A4C member, the yearly subscription fee will firstly gain you 5% discount on all A4C Online Shop purchases made and secondly the funds will also contribute towards the work A4C is doing.
Look at what this forum has achieved to raise funds for Timmy after her accident in DustyDre's Hilux, we held auctions and fund raisers like you won't believe, cant we try it again.
I'll brainstorm and come up with some ideas..........

Great idea Matroos. It is good to support things like this.Especially if you know the people and know where the money goes too
Maybe an idea is to have a jamboree sale with 4x4 camping equipment. I have a few extra things that I dont really need. We all get together with our extra stuff and sell it at a very fair prize and the money can go to where it is needed.just a thought.

Exactly my idea as well, I'll arrive back home end next week and will do a scan trough my garage to see what I have to auction off.
I'll also try to attend as many of the monthly GTG's where I will ask for small donations.
Another idea is to ask GTG venu's for discounted prices and then ask the members attending the GTG to donate the discount money towards A4c's vehicle repairs.
Thanks to everyone willing to support A4C.

Re: Assistance A4C
This is awesome thank you all! Let me know what we can do from this side, what about making the A4C membership R200 Without the t-shirt and cap ) and let me know which products on the site you like, then we can see if we can't get further discounts while still making something, this way you don't just give but actually get something you need or is a nice to have
Let me know how we can help - Thank you again

Re: Assistance A4C
Hi Johan
I actually was not thinking of using the forum for this but rather a place where everyone pitches up on a certain day with all there unwanted stuff and we have a sale. If one is going to do an auction it has to be something that is expensive and it is a only one auction.
no use having ten auctions with small stuff.

I like your idea, only problem is setting aside a date, organizing the venu and getting enough guys to put together a few items to be auctioned off.
On the other hand, look at how many items got auctioned off on this forum to raise funds for Timmy when she got injured during a 4x4 accident. I'm sure there were lots off money raised for her medical support and living cost not being able to work.
It felt good being part of this forum then, can't we do that again???

Had a conversation last night with Oooms and Johannes and decided that instead of contributing to the AAWDC event in August, for funds raised here: viewtopic.php?f=14&t=21253" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;, those funds could go where they are needed most.
We now need to decide do we donate 50% to A4C and the other to one of our upcoming GTG's, or all proceeds raised go to A4C? I'm comfy with anything and hopefuly this will be an annual event
Next on the line is the 94.7 cycle challenge, we CAN do this!

Thanks so much buddy, do yourself a favour and go watch A4C's video clips an see what kind of support they are giving to needy people in Africa, you won't regret making a contribution towards their work!
My hands are pretty much tied behind my back while I'm out at sea but I'll be home next Friday, then I'll start working on my contribution as well.
This thread is only the start, we can take this a whole lot further, thanks to everyone showing their interest so far.

Re: Assistance A4C

Ek sien jy lees Radio Kansel se daaglikse boodskappies, nice!
Lekker dag.

Re: Assistance A4C
Hi all, we just received the following donation and need your advice? How would you best think we auction this package off?
The place web site is http://www.zulunyala.com/
The place web site is http://www.zulunyala.com/
The auction donation includes: two (2) Photo Safari Packages for 2 people each: 3 days & 3 nights lodging, 3 full delicious meals daily, & 2 guided game viewing activities daily. There is no reserve, or no minimum bid. All Zulu Nyala asks is 50% of whatever the donation is sold for. Although this offer is valued at R19, 500 per safari package, past auctions have fetched up to double this amount.

How does the raffle work? We can make it for a nice December break away for a couple Or Christmas present for in-lawsCasKru wrote:We could hold a raffle maybe but that usually takes some time
Was thinking to run an auction bid over a two month period? Set a date and the highest bidder takes it at the end of the two months?

Don't know if you will get such a big amount. Was thinking along the lines of 200 tickets at R50 a ticket or something like thatAdventures4Christ wrote:How does the raffle work? Re: Assistance A4C
Sounds like a good idea! What if we make it R100 a ticket and once we have 200, we do a draw at the next GTG? Will do this through our normal members database as well?
For those on this topic who helped and those who donated to the comrades, we will give a free ticket?
