Hilux 2.7L/3RZ Gearbox

Post by IndianaJones7746 »

Hi guys

Could somebody please clarify for me, which gearbox is used in the 2.7L/3RZ IFS Hilux?
And is the same gearbox used in the 2.7VVTi Vigo Hilux?

I find some posts on the forum stating it is a G-Series gearbox, other stating it is a W56 gearbox.
With the G-series gearboxes supposedly being stronger, than the W-series, it seems odd that Toyota would've used the W56.

Ben, IIRC, the W series box was only used on the SFA models. The IFS models came out with the 'big box' - or G series. Probably the same in the Vigo shape.
Crooza VX 80 efi - fully locked.

From what I have read on google is that the 3RZ uses the W56 box, and quite a few sites mentioned that it is stronger than the G series. The vigo uses a R series box apparently.

I speak under correction

SFA
4Y - G52 (takes gear driven tc)
22R - G52 (take gear driven tc)

IFS
2.7 - W56 (takes gear driven tc) Stronger than G52
KZTE- R151 (takes gear driven tc) Stronger than W56

Vigo
2.7 - W59 (takes chain driven tc) almost some as W56 but for chain driven tc
D4D - R150 (takes Chain driven tc) almost same as as R151 but for chain driven tc, lower 1st gear
