On the original thread, most indicated the 1st w/end - that is why I arranged the DCC trainingRe: Hilux4x4.co.za - National GTG
March, before school holidays when families go away. Things won't be fully booked, off peak rates
for the April long w/end - must I cancell?National Event - DCC Training in Botswana Apr 2010
Hi All, Busy planning some DCC training for the 23d April to the 27th April 2010. The idea is to have some fun whilst complying legally in the long run and have some practical in-the-bush experience. It is invisaged that we will leave on the Friday afternoon from Pta - drive through to the other side of Groblers Brug border post to the Botswana operator's place, sleep over, proceed to the Motloutsi river bed, train for 2 days and the lst day relax and test what you have learned. Come back on Tuesday the 27th - PPH. So we will need just 1.5 days leave for a nice long week-end. I will forward all costs and the iternerary to Mark and Thys, in case some of the Southern part of the country might be interested. The trainer will most likely be Herman Engelbrecht, who should have his assessor's accreditation by then. Costs will be around R3500 p/p and no additional costs per vehicle. I have the costs for the Botswana operator - Just Herman's quotation that is outstanding. Aim to have all finalised sometime this week. We aim to take 20+ delegates, which we have 7 confirmations from Witbank.

Re: Hilux4x4.co.za - National GTG 2010
Hi Mark,
We can't wait until end Decemberfor the poll. There is a lot of planning and other factors influencing the April trip to Botswana, should it go ahead. The trainers, operator in Bots need to be fixed by means of deposits to secure the time slot in their diaries and we/members that want to attend will also need some time to save up some money for the trip. I also need som early warning to cancel the preliminary booking.
Can we close this thread/poll by end November and if possible, Pieter, can you send out a special e-mail, requesting the folks to vote?
If the GT does happen in March, I will be available to assist as Mpumalanga co-ordinator
Thanks
Hennie

I am also in favour of an earlier poll closing. December will be hectic for most of us and I doubt there will still be much polling done then. It then also gives everyone that little more time to decide and plan, but that's just my thoughts.
When your road comes to an end ...... you need a HILUX!.

Yes I know I'm little late with my comment, but is it not possible to have a date(s) that line up with the World Cup Soccer 2010... I for one don't want to be in a major city during that period, and will drive however far I must to escape the city mayhem and traffic congestion... and actually I'm not really a soccer fan... so 4x4ing as far away as possible makes sense!
I'm sure there are a lot of guys that agree with me!

On a tentative note, who do we have in the Eastern Cape that is interested. Just want to get an idea at this stage .... not going to hold you to it (yet ). Let's put it this way, since we don't have a definitre date as yet, who is keen on the idea? PM me, Thanks

Nine votes now! What an overwhelming response!
C'mon guys, This will be a fantastic opportunity, not just to get away for what promises to be a lekker weekend, but to meet each other and put faces and memories to the online personalities that we are. The venue itself is central and accessible from all directions, not tooooo far for anyone to travel, and scenic as well. Apparently the facilities are not too shabby either and suitable for a family outing ..... then there's a trail (not sure what level) where you can test your skills and pick up tips from the more experienced guys as well. We can also oggle each other's mods up close and personal. The memories that we take away afterward will be what we make them.
Man, I really thought that by now we would have had a flood of responses!

Seems like most people voted for 23 to 27 April so we can now fix the date for that weekend. Please visit this topic frequently to stay updated. I hope we will see more Hiluxes than the 8 who indicated that they will be there.

it does appear .... you just have to refresh the page manually ... there is a problem at the moment .... probably more to do with international connectivity than forum software, We are aware of it and Pieter is looking into it .... just hang in there and do the manual refreshing thing until it's been taken care of. Thanks for your understanding.

Re: Hilux4x4.co.za - National GTG 2010 - 23 to 27 April 2010
Unfortunately we took the decision to cancel this event due to a lack on interest.
We would love this to happen but I think the distance is just too far for people to travel.
I do try a big thing where only a handful of vehicles will pitch.
Perhaps we can try this again on a later stage.

Pieter is it not possible to do regional GTGs, like Western Cape... Limpopo... North West...Free State... that would help with the travelling distances!

Re: Hilux4x4.co.za - National GTG 2010 - 23 to 27 April 2010
We try to have frequent GTG in the different provinces.
But Bretton perhaps we can identify one weekend where we have all GTG in all provinces at the same time.
Up North they can even do Gauteng, Limpopo and North West together.
What do you guys think?

I agree with this regional (provincial) GTG idea. But that is what we are trying to achieve with the "weekend Away" camping GTG's anyway not true Niel? :? :?

Re: CANCELLED - Hilux4x4.co.za - National GTG 2010
at first every one thought it was great idea and were all excited about it, but only a hand full of guys were actually able to commit. There are some very real logistical problems to organise something like this successfully, and without the support it can't work. We have'nt given up hope yet ... still want to make this a reality, but 'when' is another matter.
