BF Goodrich

Can somebody please offer some advice?

I am thinking of putting some BF Goodrich tires on my 2003 3.0 DE s/c 4x4. I can not decide on the mud terain or all terains! According to the dealer they should both give around 100 000kms and the M/t is a bit noisier on tar (which I don't mind, its a diesel anyway!). How does the M/T compare to the A/T in general road holding and performance? The vehicle does about 35 / 65 on / off road.

The suspension is raised and the vehicle is fitted with a bull bar and "tralies", maybe the M/T's will look a bit more aggresive?

The KM2 is not more noisy that the AT, my experience, but they say the AT chip more than the mud one, and the mud is slightly more expensive again. I have both on my vehicles, but leaning towards the mud tyre for off road, throw less stones.

If U go 4 looks then the MT 'outperform" the AT's, 4 sure. But from a practicality point of view the AT's put them MT's to shame especially ride comfort, noise roadholding and even economically. BFG's are good  but the Perreli's (Scorpions) do better  especially off road (sand)

You will see a post by me asking the same thing. I went for AT's and dont regret it at all, the MT's look good but unless you off-road 80% of the time, are well, im my opinion (and research) not really worth it. Both damn good tires, so once you make up your mind, you will be happy.

Hi Pierre,

I had the same dillema about 4 weeks ago.
I decided to go for the mud terrains, and thus far I am very pleased. No problem in the wet or any other road holding problems. I personally dont think that I will ever use another tyre again.

Thanks all for the advice, still not sure which to choose. The MTs are only R150.00 more that the ATs.
Next question, what about the Cooper discoverer ATs?

I used many diff makes over the years, on my farm vehicle, even 'skerpioene' :D: ; road holding and traction I can't comment on of course there, but the tyre that give me the least punctures were Firestone ATX and Continental RVT 280, and therefor my the reason for using BFG's, 3 ply side walls. Bridgestone, Michelin and Yokohama are also good tyres for gravel roads.
Not heard any negative comments on the Coopers.

Thinus, apparently very well! That is, according to Andre de Villier's TV program. I would not even walk along some of the places that he drove with his Fortuner, standard suspension and fitted with D694s. That is where I gained a lot of respect for these tyres.

done just over 20 000km with my BF MT, and no complaints, also diesal so road noise at high speed not a worry. I have done some rocky trails like Barakka and not damage to tyres or puntures.
