Re: Hennops - 16 April 2011
Koos, I can understand you being upset from the point of view that you may have got up early to be there on time, driven whatever distance to the course only to find that you have been 'stood up'. I too would have been disappointed, however the rain alters the circumstances.
If your disappointment arises from losing out on a wheeling outing, I can understand that too, but then it would be a different matter as most people would be wary / uneasy about tackling a wet course. Safety first, and a person's choice to avoid a wet course should be respected ... it doesn't make them web-wheelers.
Yes, it would have been nice had someone phoned to let you know that it's being called off and one can argue that point, but then one can also argue equally well that you should have called to check yourself, knowing that it was / had been raining. Depending on how many guys were planning on going it may be a little unfair to expect one oke to phone everyone, and I saw when Mark questioned the prudence of going when he posted at 5.51am this morning. You too could have checked here as well.
I feel for you Koos, but it's a difficult one to vindicate.

When your road comes to an end ...... you need a HILUX!.
Life is like a jar of Jalapeño peppers ... what you do today, might burn your ass tomorrow.
Don't take life too seriously ..... no-one gets out alive.
It's not about waiting for storms to pass. It's about learning to dance in the rain.
And be yourself ..... everyone else is taken!

Picked up the phone before I departed and yes - it saved me a wasted trip.

Unfortunately we did tried to get hold of the guys but we didn't have all the cell no's. We each phoned some of the guys we knew and hoped all got the message. There were guys coming from very far that we managed to get hold of before they left. Sorry Koos but we did not leave you out intentionally.
