Re: Show everyone a pic of your truck
Bennie, Hillbilly is still standing. I got a replacement engine last week Monday and took directly to my mechanic in Parys. He unfortunately had just got a consignment of 30 diesel pumps for recon from Durban that he needed to attend to first.
The engine I got was a Jap import and looks very nice. Mechanic thinks it's got about 60K KM on the clock. No oil leaks or sweating pipes and seals anywhere. Started up at the shop and it runs so smooth we left it standing on a brick with no assistance. 24bar compression test on all cylinders doing a dry/cold test. with new oil and at operating temp could be as high as 26.
Engine now has a reconditioned diesel pump, setup to factory spec, and new injectors and should hopefully be here to start installing on Friday. I just need to get the rear copper bearing replacement and the new clutch so we can start putting it in. Think it is going to take a while still as I stripped the entire front end off including the grill and bullbar and lights.
Was hoping to be back on the road by the 25th, but seems I am fooling myself. Maybe drivable but without the aircon connected and I so wanted to have the diffloc done while it is off the road as I have a loan vehicle. Hillbilly is normally my only transport and works everyday. Normally does around 5000Km a month.

Re: Show everyone a pic of your truck
You guys all post shots of your rides looking beautiful
Here is a shot of my Hilux in hospital being treated for cancer.
I am in the process of bringing it back to its former glory (1991 doublecab)
It has stood in the open five meters from the sea for about 18 months, and the only rust is round the top of windscreen, and strangely enough on the firewall in identical place in the upper left hand right corners. The right hand corner I can understand as all the wires run through there but the left side there are no drilled holes. I think there must be a void space behind the firewall at this point.Apart from that, the rest is cosmetic.
Another testomonial to buy a Hilux

Imagine they bring out a Citi Lux that comes standard with the 4 litre V6, Coil springs on the SFA, lockers front and rear and the right ratios for 33's as stock tyres.
I would sell all my cars to be able to buy one if needed. One can but dream...

FD it is easy, use all that extra cash that you have got stashed away and buy a new Hilux, then take a drive down to Andries and get him to fit a reconditioned solid front axle to it, stuff the garantees and such, just do it

Amper maar nie heeltemal nie. No offence dude maar 'n LC70 sal nooit so mooi soos 'n SFA Hilux wees nie. Maar ja dis seker die beste stasie wa op die mark, met so klein bietjie getoor is daai ding sekerlik onstopbaar
