Greetings from Northwest.
Hi there / Groete Almal.
Name is Mike. Currently living in Potchefstroom. Op 'n plot. Egte Maplotter.
Retired adventurer and teller of stories. There is allways a bit of truth in them but dont take anything I say too seriously. Bought my first Hilux in the mid 80's. Single cab, V6 Conversion. Allways liked big motors, and to hell with the petrol costs. Bought a Toyota Land Cruiser, V8 conversion in the mid 90's, and then my current baby, Goliat, in the mid 'naughties'. Southern Africa has been my stomping ground. Can tell you about South West / Nam, Botswana, Rhodesia / Zim, and pretty much most of SA. Toyota man through and through. Not interested in anything else.
Also a keen biker. Done the Bike SA Desert run 12 times, starting in '86. You name a bike and I have ridden it at least and most probably owned it as well. I hold the record at the Keetmanshoop Hospital for the most broken bones in a single admission. 14. (En dit van 'n weghol scrambler nogal!)
As far as I am cancerned, there is only one car for the open roads and that is a BMW, hence I own a BMW530i (V8 of course, it could not be anything else), I love the BMW 530i V8 so much that I have had three, one after the other. The forst belonged to the company, the second belonged to the bank, and the third is mine, paid in full! For touring, my 'joltrokkie' is ou Goliat, for Cross country biking there is nothing to beat a Yammie 1100 shaftie with knobblies, Scrambling is a KTM 250SX (supercross), and my Quad for putting around on the plot is a 150cc Automatic 'Kazuma'
There is the 'Vakansie Trein'
So, now I am retired and doing nothing in particular and from time to time I take my 'holiday train' and head off to somewhere new. Make camp and hang out for a few months. I will tell you about my 'adventures' as time goes by but basically thats my intro.

Re: Greetings from Northwest.
Looking forward to those tales, Mike!
When your road comes to an end ...... you need a HILUX!.
Life is like a jar of Jalapeño peppers ... what you do today, might burn your ass tomorrow.
Don't take life too seriously ..... no-one gets out alive.
It's not about waiting for storms to pass. It's about learning to dance in the rain.
And be yourself ..... everyone else is taken!

Mike, it is just being read through before being restored. Your topic heading was cause for concern, but it will more than likely be returned soon.
