Hi my name is malcolm I am the proud owner of a 2001 Toyota Hilux double cab. I have had my truck for about 6 years and have never regretted the day i spent good money on this vehicle. It has a 2.8 diesel engine and I will post some pics as long as I know how to do this as this is all very new for me. I took it off the road this year January as it would not go into gear and here I was on the highway stuck in gear and could not get it home. Well, I decided that since i had a broken clutch fork I should fix the leaking sump which I took to my mechanic but got it back the same way on two occassions so i decided to take matters into my own hands knowing very little about mechanics.
Here is what i have done with the help of a good friend (mechanic) who saw my plight and decided to help me. We have so far reinstalled the sump pan with new oil, replaced oil in the front diff and reinstalled it, taken out the gearbox and removed the oil and I have removed the tray so I could repaint the subframe and get some body work done to it before replacing it. Oh and I removed the oil from the back diff but realized it's not the same as the one in the front diff and was wondering if I should put the old oil back in. The oil which came out the back diff is dark red but i have been told i could use the same oil which is HYPO-C 80w-90 gear oil. Can anyone tell me if it si okay to use the same oil?

I'm not to clever myself with technology, but I use paint on my computer to re-size my pics to 800 pixels high, then I use photobucket to upload to the post I'm writing.Forks380 wrote:thanks a whole lot jacques i wish i had known about this eons ago. Re: New member
I must admit i feel more than welcome and I am sure I will enjoy this forum. A BIG SHOUT OUT TO ALL!!!!
Will try responding to all in one way or another. First let me say thanks for responding to my query I will put the new oil in the back diff. Thanks Mud Dog.
Kobusl, I have to admit I had help removing that gearbox but If I had to do it again as long as I have the tools it's a done deal.
jacques I think i am worse than you when it comes to the technology.
Guys, I am now putting back up my truck so when you guys see the pics don't laught (too loud). My truck is standard right now but I really need to do some stuff to it as it is to damn slow. So when I get it back up and running I will get to get some parts to really make her look and work GREAT.
I have another question for anyone who can help, here goes.
How is the best way to remove the spigot bearing?????? Mine is stuck.
Oh! I finally got the flywheel housing dust seal today and the cost was unbelievable. $30.00USD not sure if that's a good price.
will try at posting pics lol

Malcolm, below the Photobucket pic you will see four different links. Choose the one for forums, the wording is encased in square brackets, eg:Forks380 wrote:Guys i have been able to use photobucket and downloaded the pic but cant seem to get them posted. STRESSED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
[img]name of your picture etc
Simply copy that link and post it in your reply, bearing in mind the size limitations of pics on the forum, and it should appear in your post.
