2Way Radio Installed....
Here is the radio install into DarthVader.....
What makes you think i like starwars
Im still deciding on the name...... DarthVader, OB1 OR Predator
I'm still keeping Yoda as my son will be driving in a few years and now he has something to save up for as Yoda does need a few mods and repairs...
Ok back to the topic.....
2Way Radio Installed....
I installed the antena into an existing hole in the roof....
Ran the wire down the inside left front pillar with help from an old wire coat hanger, taped the antenna wire onto thr wire coat hanger and fed it along inside the roof lining and then down the pillar....
it then runs behind the clove compartment to where the radio is fitted....
The power wires are connected directly to the battery with an inline fuse on the pos and neg wires....
They were run through the firewall using an existing hole close to where the radio is mounted.....
Finished making the brackets at work today and finished installing the radio during lunch.........
It was tested last night after i soldered the antena wire into the screw fitting...
It works well where it is and its out the way, the gear leaver does look close but does NOT touch it so it wont push buttons while changing gear...
I have not driven the bakkie yet with the radio where it is but CasKru has fitted his radio in the same place and i have not heard anything bad about it YET....
Yes i know the bakkie is really dirty, have not had the time to wash it yet as i gont it on saturday and spent sunday neatening things up and repairing a water leak that it had......

Just because it says "4WD" doesn't make it an off-road vehicle.

Re: 2Way Radio Installed....
BTW Johno,
That Mic Clip may get in the way of your leg. I had 2 Hiluxes with radios in and I found that for me the best place was the front of the cover where it was out of the way... (See picture below). I used to work for a two way radio company and had 3 radios in my vehicle. The one was where yours is, the other was above it where the normal radio is. I used to always bump the mic off its clip with my long legs. I finally screwed the clip to the front and that was better. BTW it is really only personal choice.

Johnno I'now remembered, the sunroof place I was talking to you about is in Tom Jones road, I think that is Boksburg. Coming from the N12 you'd towards Lakeside Mall, under the bridge all the way up the road and it is opposite Spar, hope this helps
