Rust de Winter Dam
So we went out to Rust de Winter last week to do a bit of Bass fishing.
It is a very clean dam right next to Dinokeng game reserve so sometimes you get to see some game.
We managed to hook 3 little bass, but still gave me a lekker fight on the light fly rod
For those who would like to go;
There is no electricity and now fresh drinking water.
There is basic ablution facilities, but it is in a bad state with broken doors and most of the showers does not work, and no hot water.
This week they did not pump water so the toilets was in a very bad state
So if you go, you need to be fully prepared. It is a shame, this place has got a lot of potential

Nice live-bait you got there!
When your road comes to an end ...... you need a HILUX!.
Life is like a jar of Jalapeño peppers ... what you do today, might burn your ass tomorrow.
Don't take life too seriously ..... no-one gets out alive.
It's not about waiting for storms to pass. It's about learning to dance in the rain.
And be yourself ..... everyone else is taken!

Yes, the camp sites closer to the gate is rough and uneven for a caravan so we go all the way to the last stands where its more even.Stef wrote:Been Itching to go out there as I'm Not even 80km away...

Re: Rust de Winter Dam
I've been to rust de winter a few years back.
we caught a few small bass. Didn't try for carp
I'd like to go back soon. It's a fair drive from Midrand though and as stated the ablution facilities are quite bad.
The guys with boats were having better luck fishing. I'd not try wading in the water coz of the crocs
