D4D intercooler/turbo problem.
Has anyone experienced the same issue as in the pictures with their 3.0 D4D?
Not sure how long this has been going on but there was quite a bit of sludge build up under the engine cover. I'm wondering if all the oil is a sign of the tubo starting to go. Surely there shouldn't be that much oil in there?
There was also a fair bit of oil 'sweat' around the top clamp of the rubber pipe connecting the inter-cooler to the turbo. The clamp was quite loose so gave it a few turns.
No reported power loss by the owner.
Gave it a good clean so will see how long it takes to start building up again.

That looks worrying
I say take off the cooler and as much of the piping as you can and give it all a good clean then monitor it

100% normal, I have never seen a D4d over a 150k km that does not look exactly like that. I'll take a pic of mine to proof it :-)
And I usually clean mine every now and then

Re: D4D intercooler/turbo problem.
Thanks for the feedback gents. With such a variance in the two replies I think we'll wait a bit for some more replies before getting too worried.

Re: D4D intercooler/turbo problem.
After seeing this post yesterday, I decided to remove my cover and check. All squeaky clean around the intercooler and boost pipes. 2008 D4D with 204,000 km on clock.

Thanks for advising Dineshen.
Anyone else want to check and let us know what you find - 3 x 6mm bolts & 2 x nuts?

Re: D4D intercooler/turbo problem.
Mine is clean as well. I opened mine a while ago (around 130 000kms) to clean the whole thing.
There was not much to clean. It was fine. The EGR was quite sludged up though.
