New shape mudflaps
Does anyone know where I can buy replacement mud flaps, I've managed to loose one at the back, and never got front ones, Toyota have quoted R1650

Welcome Steve! Mudflaps are always a problem in the bush. Also lost a number of them and eventually made my own replacements from conveyor belting ... more supple and less likely to snag .... also fitted some tie-back support lines to keep them away from the wheels.

Re: New shape mudflaps
It might be worthwhile for you guys to check out what the Road Traffic Ordinances say about Flaps. They are a legal requirement in most cases ... definitely on a bakkie and most certainly on a 4x4. There are ways of preventing the loss of flaps in the bush. Check out the link in my previous post above.Mikie wrote:I lost one ages ago as well, havent bothered replacing it, going to remove the other one too, its not worth constantly losing them

I cut mine shorter. Always used to snap off, not any more
I'll post pics when I get them.

Exactly what happens off-road as well .... very seldom ever that you will loose one going forward. Tie-backs can help.Mikie wrote:Mud Dog wrote:It might be worthwhile for you guys to check out what the Road Traffic Ordinances say about Flaps. Re: New shape mudflaps
Was busy browsing internet in search of rear mud guards and was directed to these posts.
As a new owner of an old 1990 model I am also searching for other parts and at least I learned a valuable lesson today.
START AT THIS FORUM. If you don't find info here it doesn't exists. hehehehe
Thanks

Re: New shape mudflaps
Just a tip for guys with Vigo's that keep losing mudflaps...
Buy Fortuner rear mudflaps next time. They are shorter and chances of ripping them off when reversing are considerably less.
I made new mudflaps from aluminium checker plate for my Hilux. I was told they wont last long, but hey.. they outlasted the original Toyota stuff now, so I am happy..
