Has anyone driven this road in Nam?
Hi all
If you take the turnoff towards Stampriet at Mariental and carry on to Aranos there is a road that runs in a straight line up to Buitepos next to the border. It is shown on Garmap Southern Africa v1, but not T4A. I had a look on Google Earth, and it looks like a decent sized gravel road.
Has anybody driven there? Any info welcome.

Aranos to Buitepos.
Travelled this road a few years back. The road was fine, a bit corrugated in places. Main feature is the switchbacks over the dunes as the dunes rum from east to west. But no problem the dunes are not close together, just don't go over the top at high speed as you could find yourself airborne.
I encountered no traffic except for a family of brown hyena and few bat eared foxes.

Heti, my sister in law stay on that road, about 60Km from Stampriet. I will get her phone number for you tomorrow morning and give it to you, you can phone them and ask them, they will know. You can also ask them if Buitepos has been opened again.

Dankie.

So ek het net verkeerde hek ingedagte gehad.
