Post by lekkelouw »

Hi There
I am new at the forum and just bought a kzte 2001 4x4.I would apreciate any advice as to what the possible cause could be of a vibration on the whole car when traveling at speeds between 80-100kph.
Thanks!

Wheel balancing.

Either a lost wheel weight, or mud on the rims.

Could be an unbalanced propshaft as well!

its difficult with out actually driving the vehicle!!
have a look and see if the steering wheel also shakes, if it does then one could possibly be looking at wheel balancing!! fronts!!

then have heard of tyres, even brand new tyres that are not perfectly round and no amount of balancing will get rid of it completely!!

then as already mentioned, could very well be a propshaft/s!!

self have a similar problem with the jeep, lucky me still the dealers problem, so I just keep taking it back!! hehehe!!

good luck!! :beach:

not sure how true this is but i was told you should wear a loose fitting long pants and if the lower side of the ancle part sways from side to side then its the prop shaft but if the tend to bounce up and down then its balancing or mud etc. makes sence in theory but ive never an unbalanced prop shaft to check.

I've heard that certain bullbars could also cause an unpleasant vibration at higher speeds due to wind resistance and poor aerodynamics. :problem:

Check if your front hubs are not "Locked", if they are still on the outside, the red ones you turn if engaging 4x4.

You'd think this would be obvious... but I got caught out recently on a trip... with the hubs locked... and I only clicked when we reached the destination... so check them!

No damage, provided you're not in 4WD as well. It is recommended to drive with them on for about 30km per month in any case, to assist lubrication.

Hein

as jy weer in Kaapstad is, maak seker jy kom by Johann van First Alignment (in Willow Rd, Stikland) uit. Hy is alsoluut fantasties as dit kom by engiets wat te doen het met suspensions en wielbalansering! Nog nie enigiemand wat ek van weet wat al by kom aangelop het vir hulp, was die reggehelp nie. Hy spesialiseer in bakkies en swaar voertuie, so hy sal defnitief kan help.
