Speakers in the back of a SFA

Post by SideKick »

Hi guys.

I used to have two speaker in the back. They looked like PC speakers and fitted nicely into that gap between the back seat and the wall. But they don't work anymore and I cant find 3" tower speakers that fits in there.

What do I do now? Fit 6"x9"s in the rear doors? Or is there another spot I'm not seeing that I can put speakers in in the back?

Put a decent set of 6x9's in the doors. you might have a hassle with the window winding mechanism if you don't space them out a little (20mm). Fit them in the rear bottom quadrant ..... they'll be facing the seat but shouldn't be muffled at all.

This will also leave more space behind the seat for other stuff.

You get a slimline sub that you can box and fit behind the rear seat, goes well with 6x9 rears and splits upfront

Stephan, I fitted 6x9 Sony Explod in the "C" Pillar of the double cab. They do not fit unless you cut a hole with an angle grinder. I did that and the fit great and sounded pretty good too. I have since sold the vehicle but "Chopper" has the vehicle so maybe he would be kind enough to take some pictures for you. maybe he can also tell you how it sounds.

I chose not to do the doors with the 6x9 because as Andy mentioned, there is no space for the window winder. I also cut out a template and was very suspect if the speakers would fit in the rear doors. Hence I chose the "C" pillar.
Just because it says "4WD" doesn't make it an off-road vehicle.

Hi Stephan,

This is what I did on Bolt... 6x9's in the C pillars.

The SFA's rear seat is cramped and door mounted speakers grills inevitably take a beating. Because of the speaker magnet width and depth, so metal cutting and a spacer(diy) were needed.
